K&L Gates Bolsters Finance Practice With Charlotte Partner Addition
Charlotte – Global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Seth Ivey as a partner in its Finance practice. Ivey joins the firm’s Charlotte office from Dechert LLP.
Ivey focuses his practice on commercial real estate finance law with a particular interest in complex structured finance transactions. With more than a decade of experience, he has represented banks, private equity funds, insurance companies, mortgage real estate investment trusts, and other lenders and institutional investors in originating and syndicating structured loans secured by a broad range of commercial real estate asset classes, including multi-family homes, industrial and office spaces, retail, hospitality and restaurants, data centers, life science structures, mobile homes, self-storage units, assisted-living facilities, and other mixed-use properties.
Throughout his career, Ivey has led closing teams on high-value, time-sensitive transactions for some of the world’s largest commercial real estate owners, including multibillion-dollar single-asset, single-borrower loans for commercial mortgage-backed securitizations. He has drafted and negotiated agreements across a wide range of loan structures, which span securitized and balance sheet loans, bridge and term loans, mezzanine and construction financing, and warehouse facilities. His work also includes comprehensive diligence review for originations, syndications, and risk retention investments, as well as the negotiation of loan workout agreements during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are thrilled to welcome Seth to our firm,” said Stacy Ackermann K&L Gates’ Global Managing Partner and a leader of the firm’s Finance practice. “Seth brings more than a decade of deep experience in commercial real estate finance, with a proven track record advising top-tier financial institutions on complex structured finance transactions.
