K&L Gates Enhances Litigation Practice with Orange County Partner Addition

17 May 2021

Orange County - Global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Daniel M. Glassman as a partner in its complex commercial litigation and disputes practice. Glassman joins the firm’s Orange County office from Crowell & Moring LLP.

With more than two decades of experience both in private practice and in-house, Glassman focuses on health care litigation and complex business disputes. He represents health care clients in claims relating to excessive charges, breach of contract, fraud, and other contract and payment disputes, as well as securities broker-dealers, manufacturers, land owners, hotel management companies, and other clients in complex commercial litigation.

Previously, Glassman served as vice president and associate general counsel for the St. Joseph Health System, where he provided health care counsel directly to six of the system’s hospitals and oversaw and managed business litigation for the entire health system.

Glassman is on the board of the Orange County Bar Association Charitable Fund and serves as co-chair of the Orange County Bar Association’s Mandatory Fee Arbitration committee.

Melissa Tea, co-leader of the firm’s litigation and dispute resolution practice area, commented: “Dan brings to K&L Gates the unique and valuable perspective that comes with having served both private practice and in-house clients, and the broad scope of his litigation experience will further strengthen our West Coast litigation team. We are excited about his arrival and look forward to watching him continue to grow his practice on our platform.”

Glassman is the fifth partner to join K&L Gates’ Orange County office in the past year, following the earlier arrivals of fellow litigation partner David Bournazian, corporate partner Rema Awad, intellectual property partner Mincheol Kim, and real estate partner William Tate. The firm’s litigation practice also welcomed Paris partner Barthélemy Cousin, Los Angeles partners Helen Kim and Mitchell Kim, and Charleston partner Paul Eckles during the same time. They are among the nearly 70 partners who have joined the firm since January 2020.

“We are delighted to welcome Dan to K&L Gates and the firm’s litigation practice,” stated Michael Hedge, managing partner of K&L Gates’ Orange County office. “His combination of in-house and private practice litigation experience, particularly in the health care area, makes Dan another strong addition to both our office and the firm’s broader partnership and continues building on the practice specialties and diverse experience through which our Orange County office serves clients.”

K&L Gates’ complex commercial litigation and disputes practice has the breadth, experience, and sophistication to successfully resolve matters ranging from simple commercial claims to complex multi-party, cross-border litigations, and arbitrations. K&L Gates was recently recognized by Forbes as one of America’s most recommended corporate law firms in the area of litigation and dispute resolution as part of the publication’s first-ever legal industry review. The practice was also named a “Litigation Standout” in BTI Consulting Group’s 2020 Litigation Outlook report.

K&L Gates is a fully integrated global law firm with lawyers located across five continents. The firm represents leading multinational corporations, growth and middle-market companies, capital markets participants and entrepreneurs in every major industry group as well as public sector entities, educational institutions, philanthropic organizations and individuals.
