Marisa Murillo

Marisa Murillo is a partner in the firm’s Finance practice with more than 20 years of experience in negotiating and documenting complex finance transactions for top-tier commercial lending institutions, private and public companies, debt funds and private equity groups. Her practice covers all aspects of finance, including secured and unsecured credit facilities, leveraged buyout financings, refinancings, commitment papers, subordination and intercreditor agreements, mezzanine loans, debt and equity restructurings, stimulus loans, art and other specialty collateral loans, green loans, joint ventures and general working capital facilities. Marisa also assists equity and debt funds in raising fund-level financings. She has led finance deals ranging in size from US$5 million to several billion dollars, and encompassing a full spectrum of industries including manufacturing, automotive, retail, technology, consumer brands, health care, telecommunications, media and entertainment, energy, and professional services. During the credit crisis, she worked as in-house finance counsel at a multinational automotive manufacturer, advising them on corporate and finance matters in the world of TARP.

Marisa has been recognized for her successes by Crain’s Chicago Business and the Kayo Conference Series, and her deals have been featured in The Wall Street Journal. Apart from her finance work, Marisa devotes time to the boards of several esteemed art museums, where she assists these organizations with fundraising for exhibitions for diverse artists. She is one of the youngest people to serve as a Regional President for the Hispanic National Bar Association, an organization that empowers members of the Hispanic legal community.

Prior to joining the firm, Marisa served as a partner at an international law firm, where she focused her practice on debt finance, corporate, private equity and venture capital, art law and energy. Additionally, she has acted as lead counsel to senior and mezzanine lenders and borrowers - especially in the middle market - in negotiating debt finance transactions, where she managed diverse legal teams to reach efficient and desirable outcomes for each client. Marisa also served as the lead in-house finance counsel at General Motors Company in Detroit where she advised the company on many high-profile transactions after its initial public offering.
