Mathieu Volckrick

Mathieu Volckrick is the managing partner of the firm’s Luxembourg office. He has over 17 years of professional experience in the Luxembourg asset management, banking and financial services industries.

Mathieu has considerable experience advising asset managers and other fund initiators with the design, regulatory approval, marketing, restructuring, and voluntary liquidation of their investment products, including the full range of Luxembourg regulated and unregulated alternative investment funds, club deals and private funds, investing in all major alternative asset classes.

Mathieu assists his clients on all aspects of local and cross-border real estate and private equity transactions and has substantial experience leading complex cross-border due diligence investigations, drafting and negotiating transaction and finance documents, and implementing security packages.

He regularly advises banks and investment firms on the foreseeable impacts of major regulatory changes on their products/ services ranges, marketing and distribution strategy, as well as their operating model.

Prior to joining the firm, Mathieu served as managing partner of his own business law firm where he focused his practice on asset management, banking and asset finance, and financial services. 

Mathieu trained at a Magic Circle firm for nearly six years, worked as a fund manager for a Luxembourg PERE fund for two years, and served as partner and head of the financial services regulatory team at a Big Four firm for seven years. 

Mathieu advised on the set-up and launch of more than 100 investment vehicles since the start of his professional career including SIFs, RAIFs, SICARs, Part II Funds, Club Deal platforms, Securitization Funds, investing in all major alternative asset classes (RE, PE/VC, Infrastructure, (renewable) energy, (distressed) debt, hedge, SRE and fund of funds).

He was chiefly involved in the set-up and regulatory approval of regulated management companies and AIFMs, investment firms and other financial sector professionals.
