Trevor Gates is a registered patent attorney in the firm’s Seattle office who helps clients protect and commercialize their technology and intellectual property assets. His practice concentrates on drafting and negotiating commercial agreements involving technology, intellectual property, media, sports, and entertainment.
Trevor regularly counsels companies from startups to Fortune 500 corporations on using technology and protecting intellectual property assets, including the acquisition, development, marketing, licensing, and distribution of software, mobile applications, and other types of technology and media. He also advises on intellectual property matters in connection with mergers and acquisitions and assists companies with solving privacy and data security concerns. He has particular experience assisting with intellectual property matters involving software or pharmaceutical drugs, including patent litigation arising under the Hatch-Waxman Act.
Trevor also represents clients with drafting and negotiating sports and entertainment transactions, including celebrity and athlete endorsement agreements, sponsorship agreements, and media rights agreements.
