K&L Gates Bolsters Asset Management and Investment Funds Practice with Boston Partner Addition
Boston - Global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Lance Dial as a partner in the Asset Management and Investment Funds (AMIF) practice. He joins the firm’s Boston office from Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP.
Dial has nearly two decades of experience as an investment management lawyer, including having served 13 years as senior in-house counsel with two major asset management firms. In both roles, he provided legal support for a diverse range of issues.
Dial has significant experience in advising global asset managers on regulatory and compliance matters, including providing advice with respect to the development and implementation of business operations and compliance programs that meet evolving global requirements. Dial also advises clients with respect to general fiduciary matters, including environmental, social, and governance (ESG) and sustainability issues as well as the marketing and advertising of investment advisory services and investment funds. In addition, Dial has significant experience with the operation of US mutual funds, ETFs, and money market funds and has worked extensively on regulatory policy matters, engaging with various ﬁnancial services regulators including the US Securities and Exchange Commission, US Department of Labor, Internal Revenue Service, and US Department of Treasury. Dial also provides regulatory support and advice to clients with respect to examination and enforcement matters.
Dial was an associate at K&L Gates from 2005-2007.

Dial is among more than 165 new partners and of counsel who have joined K&L Gates globally since the beginning of 2020, with several, like Dial, contributing to the recent growth both of the firm and its global AMIF practice. This also includes K&L Gates’ early January opening of an office in Dublin, Ireland –– the firm’s 48th office –– led by three AMIF partners, and the addition of other new AMIF partners and of counsel in the firm’s Washington, D.C., Miami, New York, and Sydney offices since 2022.
