Amjad Hussain is a partner in the firm’s Doha office. He focuses his practice on finance, corporate and commercial matters with particular emphasis on banking and Islamic finance.
Since 2002, Amjad has worked for clients in the Arabian Gulf across a range of sectors including financial services, TMT and infrastructure. He advises government and private sector clients based within and outside the Middle East on matters of English, Qatar and Qatar Financial Centre laws.
In 2021, Chambers Global directory of lawyers in Qatar rated Amjad as Band 1 and states:
Amjad Hussain is widely considered a leader in Qatari finance matters. He is acclaimed by clients for his strengths in Islamic and asset finance, and offers further expertise in M&A transactions and commercial contract work. Sources describe him as a lawyer who is "very pragmatic, practical and offers a good level of service," further noting: "He's a really pleasant guy to work with."
Prior to joining the firm, Amjad practiced in the UK for a number of years before joining the Dubai office of an international law firm in 2002, where he worked for three years before returning to the UK for two years.
From 2007 until 2012, he practiced as a partner with an international law firm in its Doha office, which he managed. He assisted that firm with entering the Saudi market and supervised that firm’s Saudi cooperation arrangement.
Amjad joined the firm's Doha office in 2012. He is rated by a number of independent legal sector directories as a leading lawyer in Qatar.
