In 2026, K&L Gates, will offer the annual continuous professional development (CPD) Program in a hybrid model to support Australian lawyers gain your mandatory points before the 31 March deadline.

You can attend in-person sessions in any of our Australian offices or join our interactive national webinars, where you will have the opportunity to ask questions and participate. The national webinars will also be recorded and posted to our HUB CLE Centre in early March if you need to watch them at a later date.

From 1 January 2026, many transactions in Australia – M&A, property acquisitions and leases, as well as other major acquisitions of rights that cross certain revenue or transaction value thresholds – will require Notification to the ACCC and clearance.

This is a significant seachange in approach and in terms of time for deals and risk.

The goalposts/thresholds changed a number of times in 2025 due to unintended consequences of the legislative changes.

This session will provide practical guidance on:

  • The new notification requirements and thresholds.
  • Exceptions to mandatory notification.
  • ACCC powers, processes, and penalties for non-compliance.
  • Information and documentation needed for notification.
  • Notification fees and practical steps for deal timing and contracts.

This session is essential for understanding the new regulatory landscape and preparing for compliance and strategic decision-making for M&A and other deals in 2026 and beyond.
