Women in Manufacturing: Navigating 2023 Disruptors
Below is a detailed agenda below for the K&L Gates inaugural Women in Manufacturing event, taking place in our Pittsburgh office on the afternoon of Tuesday 16 May. We hope you will join us for this event, during which we will discuss navigating macroeconomic factors that have the potential of disrupting manufacturing operations in the coming year. Additionally, this will be a great opportunity for networking with other women lawyers and executives in the manufacturing industry.

12:30 - 1:30 PM: Lunch Program - Managing Counterparty Risks
(1 hour of CLE credit provided)
This presentation will cover ways to anticipate and manage counterparty risk through upfront contractual negotiations and diligence. We will also address the unfortunate circumstances of breach and possible insolvency events that may affect the relationship, providing practical ways to best protect your company’s rights.

1:45 - 3:15 PM: Dealing with Labor Disruptions
(1 hour of CLE credit provided)
This session will discuss a myriad of issues causing labor disruptions across the manufacturing industry, including the growing push-back to non-compete agreements from federal government, state legislatures, courts, and the public; compliance with pay equity/pay transparency laws; challenges in attracting and retaining workers in a workforce shortage; pitfalls when considering strategies for workforce recruitment and retention, and best practices for navigating business needs while remaining compliant with federal and state antitrust and competition laws; and responding to demands for alternative work schedules.
The second half of this session will consist of breakout sessions for more in-depth discussion of certain of these labor disruptors.

This moderated panel discussion will explore both the business and legal aspects of supply chain challenges and disputes, with an emphasis on minimizing, managing, and transferring such risks.
